Twitter makes it easier to follow things you like

The company’s announcement says following topics will show you tweets “from a whole host of accounts that are experts, fans or just tend to talk about that thing a lot on Twitter.” It looks like you’ll see those tweets in your timeline, and they’re marked so you know you didn’t accidentally follow random accounts. Unfortunately, it’s still not clear if the platform will ensure that you won’t get low-quality tweets that are only slightly connected to the subject you want to monitor.

You’ll also be able to manage topics from your menu or your timeline. From there, you can unfollow topics or find new ones to track.

Disney+ adds a few more Marvel movies to its list of day-one titles

You can expect to see Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man 2, Thor, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 all available on Disney+ once the service goes live, along with other selections from the archives and the first episodes of launch day originals like The Mandalorian, High School Musical: The Musical Series or live-action Lady and the Tramp.

That’s all in addition to Endgame, plus Marvel flicks that appeared in the earlier list: Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain Marvel. Missing MCU movies include Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp, which are currently streaming on Netflix per their earlier deal, plus both Spider-Man movies and The Incredible Hulk. Disney+ starts streaming tomorrow, November 12th, at a price of $6.99 per month, $69.99 annually, or in a bundle with ESPN+ and ad-supported Hulu for $12.99.

DC Universe’s flagship show ‘Titans’ renewed for third season

Whether or not it remains a DC Universe exclusive in the US is equally unclear. Doom Patrol received a second season, but it’ll also be available on HBO Max — a sign that WarnerMedia might not be comfortable with the show as a DCU-only title. If Titans goes the same route, that will cast further doubts on DCU’s future. If nothing else, this could reassure comic book fans worried that Swamp Thing‘s cancellation hinted at a grim fate for other streaming DC shows.

A spokesperson wasn’t shy about the reasoning for the new options, telling Engadget in a statement “We are rolling out navigation bar controls to make it easier for people to connect with the things they like and control the notifications they get within the Facebook app.” This is about giving you more relevant features as well as an opportunity to reduce the number of notifications you get.

Much like the test that hides Instagram ‘Likes,’ this is an acknowledgment that certain app behaviors can be harmful to your digital wellbeing. There may also be a pragmatic side: you might be less likely to use Facebook if you feel like it’s constantly nagging you. This doesn’t address other issues, such as Facebook’s tendency to bombard you with out-of-app notifications, but it’s a start.

The next iPad Pro may arrive in early 2020 with 3D sensors

The same leak also reiterated an earlier The Information report claiming that Apple plans to launch a mixed AR and VR headset in 2022 (possibly in 2021) followed by AR glasses in 2023. The earlier scoop suggested the headset would have high-res displays and a sophisticated AR experience that would let people walk in front of and behind AR objects.

This isn’t great news if you were waiting for an updated iPad Pro. If accurate, the new slate would arrive roughly a year and a half after the current model. It does suggest the new Pro won’t be just a mild refresh, though, so it might be an easier sell if you’re itching for a high-end tablet and want a meaningful improvement.

The EU just approved a vaccine to prevent Ebola

Ervebo was first engineered by the Public Health Agency of Canada and the US Army more than a decade ago. In 2014, following the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, Merck acquired the rights to develop the vaccine.

The “conditional marketing authorization” is a type of approval reserved for medicine that addresses unmet medical needs. It allows the medicine to advance with less comprehensive data than normally required if the benefits outweigh the risks. Preliminary Ervebo tests have been promising, with the vaccine proving to be 100 percent effective during trials in Guinea, and as part of the clinical development, Merck has donated more than 250,000 doses to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Merck plans to begin manufacturing Ervebo in Germany beginning in the third quarter of 2020. The vaccine is also under priority review with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

According to the European Commission the Ebola outbreak in West Africa that began in 2014 killed more than 11,000 people. The current outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has shown a 67 percent fatality rate, and more than 3,000 people have been infected with the virus. The WHO declared Ebola a public health emergency of international concern in July, and that warning remains in effect.
