ESPN+ snags US rights to Bundesliga soccer starting in 2020

It’s a timely grab for ESPN, as many young USMNT players are in the German league right now. Bundesliga CEO Robert Klein said in a statement that “Germany will continue to be an important source of talent for future US national teams and with ESPN we’re incredibly excited to take fans on their journey in the lead up to their home World Cup in 2026.”

It also helps add to a list of soccer leagues ESPN+ is streaming that includes Serie A, English Cups and MLS — all just in time before Disney launches its bundle November 12th that ties the network to Hulu and Disney+ streaming for $12.99 per month.

Disney titles will be on Amazon Prime Video in Latin America

The entertainment titan plans to roll the service out to the rest of the world over the next couple of years, so most fans will have to wait a bit before they can access all its originals and the movies it’s hosting. Disney’s deal with Amazon will serve as some sort of a stopgap solution for the growing streaming market in Latin America, including Brazil where the latter recently launched a scaled-down version of its Prime service.

Variety says the movies coming to Prime Video in the region include select Marvel Cinematic Universe films, such as Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Thor: The Dark World, Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. All four Toy Story movies, Tangled, Moana, Maleficent and its sequel Mistress of Evil, as well as the live action versions of The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast will also be available for streaming. The deal also gives Amazon the right to stream all seasons of Grey’s Anatomy, The Walking Dead, American Horror Story and How I Met Your Mother.

Amazon’s and Disney’s partnership will run for a year from October 1st, 2019 to September 2020. Apparently, that’s because Disney+ will be available in Latin American countries sometime in the first quarter of 2021.

Twitter outage takes down Tweetdeck, affects images and DMs

Be nice to any journalists you see on Twitter right now — Tweetdeck is down and it’s a headache for everyone. While the company has said it’s aware of issues and investigating, problems have also hit regular users, who aren’t seeing new DMs at the moment, or may have trouble adding extra stuff to tweets like images, videos and polls. In a tweet, the company said it’s working on a fix and that things “should be back to normal soon.”

‘Super Mario Maker 2’ update lets you play with friends online

The gaming giant eventually changed its tune and promised to add the feature, and that’s what update Version 1.1.0 is bringing to the game. You can now search your Switch friends list for someone to play with in either co-op or versus mode for both global and nearby play. You can also select from the courses uploaded to Course World or saved to Coursebot for your game.

In addition to the multiplayer feature rollout, the update also adds voice chat support for the Nintendo Switch Online mobile app, as well as touchscreen and button control support when creating courses in handheld mode. Sony puts PlayStation’s ‘Games of a Generation’ on sale

Some of the most notable PlayStation games are available at a decent discount over the next two weeks. Sony has put over a hundred titles on sale as part of its “Games of a Generation” event, with deals that include half off the original price. The company says the sale highlights “the most memorable games to date,” such as Red Dead Redemption 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition, Call of Duty Black Ops 4, Uncharted the Nathan Drake Collection, Crash Bandicoot, Bloodborne and Skyrim.

Both ‘Destiny’ games are offline for ’emergency maintenance’

Destiny 2 fans hoping to dive into the game’s latest expansion Shadowkeep will have to wait a bit longer, as Bungie announced both Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 are undergoing “emergency maintenance.” It’s not clear exactly what the issue is, but it comes just as the company launched some big changes for the second game.

Once it’s working again, Destiny 2 will have added a new expansion for players that sees the return of Eris Morn, support for PC gamers using Steam and the ability to transfer saves between platforms, so you can take characters to wherever your friends are without replaying the same level grinds over and over again. The now free-to-play game should have a better experience overall, once it’s actually working.

Intel’s 10th-gen X-series CPUs include an 18-core model under $1,000

There aren’t any dramatic clock speed improvements, although the 12-, 14- and 18-core chips all hit a healthy max turbo boost of 4.8GHz. Really, this is all about refining the formula. In addition to the higher Turbo Boost Max 3.0 speed, they include support for up to 256GB of 2,933MHz DDR4 RAM, 72 platform PCIe 3.0 lanes on every model, Deep Learning Boost to give AI a lift, WiFi 6 support and faster Ethernet. You won’t be hurting for memory or bandwidth.

You can expect these chips to arrive by November. That timing is convenient, to say the least — AMD expects to ship its 16-core Ryzen 9 that month. While the Ryzen will likely undercut Core X chips in terms of cores per dollar with a $749 price, Intel’s update should make it considerably more competitive. You won’t have to ‘settle’ for a non-X chip just to have money left over for, well, the rest of your computer.

Visa, Mastercard are reconsidering support for Facebook Libra

It has been a few months since Facebook officially announced its “Libra” cryptocurrency push with support from some big names including Visa and Mastercard. Since then we’ve heard little about it other than increasing scrutiny from regulators, bankers and politicians around the world, while those partners have mostly remained quiet.

The Wall Street Journal reports today that executives from unnamed partner companies have refused to support Libra publicly, despite requests from Facebook for them to do so. It claims, based on anonymous sources, that Visa, Mastercard and others are now reconsidering their involvement altogether. This all comes out as members of the Libra Association are preparing to meet in Washington D.C. on Thursday, so we’ll likely find out soon if they pull together or split apart.

‘Apex Legends’ Season 3 debuts with a new hero and new map

As for Crypto? He’s focused primarily on pinpointing enemies using his aerial drone, including a passive ability to see what the drone sees up to 30 meters (98 feet) away. He’s also a good counter for Caustic and Wattson with an EMP Ultimate ability that destroys traps and walls while weakening shields and slowing players.

There’s considerably more, of course. A distance-oriented Charge Rifle takes time to warm up, but can deliver massive damage if you stay on target. Guns can now carry charms if you want an extra flourish. Loads of fire- and ice-themed cosmetics are available. And you can expect a raft of tweaks, including wider access to the “Executioner” perk (you no longer need gold armor to get a shield refresh), new kitted weapons and new weapon add-ons that reward more deliberate shooting.

You’ll still need to spend cash if you either want the rewards of the Battle Pass or don’t want to grind for Crypto and other items. You might have a better reason than usual to pay, though, especially if Crypto’s cautiousness suits your play style.
