‘Arkham Origins’ studio teases new Batman game

Fans are speculating the teaser suggests a new Arkham game is on its way where Batman will have to take on Ra’s Al Ghul and the Court of Owls. If you’ve watched the Christopher’s Nolan’s Batman Begins, you’re already familiar with Liam Nesson’s take on the villain. He leads a band of assassins. The Court of Owls, meanwhile, are a newer addition to the Batman mythology. They’re a secret society that controls Gotham City from the sidelines. While we don’t know when we’ll learn more about the new game, one possibility is that Sony will announce the title during its State of Play broadcast on September 24th.

To date, the Arkham series has included four mainline entries: Arkham Asylum (2009), Arkham City (2011), Arkham Origins (2013) and Arkham Knight (2015). With the exception of Origins, the three other games were developed by Rocksteady Studios. Together the four titles are among some of the best games you can play on the current and previous generation of consoles.

Amazon’s version of AirPods will reportedly offer fitness tracking

It’s unknown when exactly we’ll catch a glimpse of these earbuds. Amazon is expected to unveil a host of new devices at its big hardware event on September 25th. As is typical, the company has remained silent on what exactly we can expect from the event. If last year is any guide, there will likely be some surprises in store. CNBC also reported that the company is working on an Echo device with better sound quality for music — a rumor that we’ve heard before — so we may see that item debut at the event as well.

Fitness tracking capabilities and a lower price could certainly give the new Alexa earbuds an edge over Apple’s Airpods. AirPods are currently the best-selling wireless earpods in the world, making up 60 percent of the global market. But for Android users or those hunting for more affordable options, Amazon’s upcoming entry could be an attractive alternative.

‘Fortnite’ is adding bots to give new players a fighting chance

Like the B.R.U.T.E mechs Epic introduced this past summer, the announcement is already causing controversy among the game’s most passionate fans. In a way, however, bots are a more elegant solution to Epic’s stated goal of creating an experience where “anyone can win.” Unlike the B.R.U.T.E mech, you won’t encounter bots if you’re a skilled player.

Alongside adding bots, Epic says it’s tweaking how matchmaking works. Moving forward, you’ll more likely be matched against other players of similar skill. Both features will launch with Fortnite‘s 10.40 update later this week. The studio plans to roll out the tweaked matchmaking system slowly so it can monitor how it performs.

Twitter now lets everyone on iOS pin lists to their Home timeline

As pictured above, Twitter has also added a fresh landing page for your lists, which shows a header image and more context about your customizable timelines, including the number of members and subscribers. If you’re using the iOS app, you can tweak your lists by simply tapping on your profile picture and then, in the Home menu, selecting the lists tab — there’s a GIF below for you. Oh, and because I know some of you are wondering when you can have this on Android, Twitter told Engadget the feature will be expanding outside iOS in the near future, though it doesn’t have an exact date just yet.

Twitter is cracking down on financial scams

According to Twitter, users may not operate a fake account or pretend to be a public figure or an organization. Money-flipping schemes in which users ask for a small amount of money in return for a larger sum are prohibited, and phishing schemes will count as a violation. To report instances of fraud, users can select “report tweet” from the drop down menu, choose “It’s suspicious or spam” and then choose the type of violation.

Twitter might lock accounts that are in violation and require more information, or block them altogether. It may also warn users about potentially unsafe links and delete specific tweets.

The platform has been cracking down on abuse. Early this year it said it saw a 16 percent drop in the number of abuse reports year on year. It has already banned ads for cryptocurrency and previously made efforts to improve its reporting tools. Still, scams like ads for counterfeit goods still show up. While policy changes like these are necessary, it’s hard to say if they’ll have any meaningful impact.

Arlo’s Pro 3 security cam offers HDR and color night vision options

Other enhancements include a built-in spotlight, in addition to color night vision. Arlo has also added a better speaker and microphone combination, which the company says will make two-way conversations sound more natural. There’s also a new built-in siren now that can be programmed to trigger automatically when the camera detects sound or movement. Like its predecessor, the Arlo Pro 3 is also IP65-certified water and dust resistant, making it safe to use outdoors. You can mount the camera either magnetically or using a built-in screw-in mechanism.

Outside of the camera, Arlo also has a Smart Hub that the company says features improved power and WiFi performance, which reportedly leads to improved battery life on the camera. On that note, a single Arlo Pro 3 is can go up to six months on a single charge. The entire system continues to support HomeKit, as well as both Alexa and Google Assistant.

The Arlo Pro 3 will be available at Arlo.com and Best Buy later this week, with more retailers to follow. You buy the Arlo Pro 3 either separately for $199.99 per camera or as part of a $499 package that includes the new Smart Hub, two cameras and a three-month trial to Arlo Smart. The $9.99 per month subscription allows you to save your records to the cloud for 30 days. It also includes an e911 feature that allows authorities to pinpoint the location of the device. At $199, is more affordable than the $249 Nest Cam Outdoor, and that’s likely enough to convince some consumers to go with the Pro 3.

Louis Vuitton is making a case for a major ‘League of Legends’ trophy

The design won’t shock you if you’ve seen Louis Vuitton gear before: the company’s signature patterns and earthy color tones are everywhere.

This is just the start of the collaboration, too. Louis Vuitton and Riot also plan to unveil new champion skins as well as a capsule collection from women’s collection Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière. You can expect other “digital assets” in the future.

It sounds like a strange collaboration, but makes sense for both companies. For Riot, this lends an extra air of prestige to League of Legends competition. Louis Vuitton, in turn, reaches an audience that might not even consider the brand unless they’re shopping for a luxurious smartwatch or iPhone case. You’re probably not about to buy an LV bag just because you saw the trophy case, but the fashion firm is no doubt hoping some people will be customers in the long run.

Apple will manufacture its new Mac Pro in Texas

Apple hinted that it wanted to manufacture the redesigned Mac Pro in Texas, and now it’s official. The company has confirmed that it’ll assemble the workstation at the same Austin, Texas plant that has produced the cylindrical Mac Pro since 2013. The company isn’t shy about the reason for the move: it’s reportedly enabled by exemptions from Trump’s China tariffs for “certain necessary components” in the system. Production starts “soon.”
