Samsung’s Galaxy S20 family is expensive when even the ‘entry’ model begins around $1,000. The company thinks it has a solution, though: turn the phone into more of a service. It just launched an Access plan that provides an S20 phone, a Premium Care warranty, Microsoft 365 and 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage for a monthly fee. Prices range from $37 per month for the base S20 through to $48 for the S20 Ultra. You can upgrade or cancel at any time, although you’ll pay $100 if you either get a new phone in less than nine months or cancel in less than three months.

The device payments will last for three years if you don’t upgrade, although Samsung is clearly hoping you’ll use this to keep getting its latest phones. Trade-ins don’t count, so keep that in mind if you think you could get a better overall deal by selling your old phone.

On Facebook, Download Your Information will also show you some of the inferences Facebook makes about you. For instance, it might show you that it’s recommending football-related content because you shared an article about football with a friend. And on Instagram, you’ll be able to see categories assigned to some accounts — like sports or fashion — that are used to suggest content in the Explore tab.

You probably won’t do much with this data, but it could be interesting to see how Facebook and Instagram are keeping tabs on you and why they’re recommending certain content. Last year, Facebook also increased transparency about ads, sharing details about why you were matched with specific advertising. While it may seem like this is a noble step for Facebook, it’s driven, at least in part, by regulation like the General Data Protection Regulation in Europe and the California Consumer Privacy Act. As we’ve said before, Facebook only cares about privacy because it has to.

There’s no such thing as regular ol’ TV anymore. There’s cable and satellite, and a seemingly endless selection of streaming services and content platforms, so clicking around your options can be a bit time consuming and clunky. But TiVo is trying to streamline the process. From today, Amazon Prime members will be able to access Prime Video content directly through their TiVo box. Sitting alongside other video streaming apps already offered by TiVo, the Prime Video app will also include select 4K Ultra HD and HDR content, as well as behind-the-scenes exclusives for top movies and TV shows. Find it through TiVo’s OneSearch function.
