All of the apparel and accessories (there’s a $515 keychain and bag charm) combine the iconic LV pattern with the brand’s take on a League of Legends color palette. Several items have a tiger-stripe design. As Polygon points out, there isn’t a direct connection between the pattern and the game, but it gives the line a consistent feel.

As we’ve noted before, this isn’t an entirely surprising collaboration. It could help both Riot Games and Louis Vuitton reach audiences they wouldn’t otherwise. Louis Vuitton already makes apparel for traditional sports, like its FIFA line, and now that eSports have gone mainstream, this isn’t a huge leap. The prices might seem high to the uninitiated, but they’re in line with the price of other Louis Vuitton goods, and clearly, there’s a market for those.

Mercifully, this isn’t the sum total of Disney’s The Mandalorian cash-in. CNBC has learned that other, hopefully higher-quality goods are in the pipeline before the holidays, and there will be pre-orders for the inevitable plushies and toys (c’mon, you knew these were coming) in the weeks ahead. Disney’s tentpole online show should have gift-worthy merch in the long run, but you may need to hand that special someone an IOU if you’d rather not receive a look of crushing disappointment.

During the pilot program, Amazon purchased sneakers and apparel directly through Amazon, rather than buying them via third parties. The aim was reportedly to ease concerns among other companies about third-party resellers that were sullying their brands with fake merchandise. Amazon had allegedly been developing a registry of vetted vendors, and Nike would make a big splash as the first approved brand.

Nike supposedly thought that partnering with Amazon would give it more control over third-party sellers and potential counterfeit goods. However, as many companies have found on Amazon, eradicating third-party sellers is a game of wack-a-mole, with a new vendor popping up for each one removed.

As part of Nike’s focus on elevating consumer experiences through more direct, personal relationships, we have made the decision to complete our current pilot with Amazon Retail. We will continue to invest in strong, distinctive partnerships for Nike with other retailers and platforms to seamlessly serve our consumers globally.

Amazon has supposedly been preparing for the break, according to Bloomberg, by developing a network of third part sellers so you can still buy Nike shoes on the site. At the same time, Nike will continue to use Amazon’s AWS web services.

Nike has significantly expanded into direct online, tripling sales in that area since 2013. However, retail still makes up about 68 percent of its business, and the company has tried to make that more holistic and tech friendly with the SNKRS app, collection points, vending machines and more. By hiring a former eBay CEO, however, it could push even further into online sales.

Meanwhile, Nike’s departure could be a blow for Amazon, which has been slammed lately for selling counterfeit and even dangerous goods. It has mostly kept a hands-off approach and let brands police the problem, but recently it vowed to spend billions of dollars to keep vendors from selling such illegal products.

Another interesting aspect of The North Face’s latest fabric tech is that it developed it with sustainability in mind. The company said that every Futurelight garment will be produced at a solar-powered factory, and they’ll be made from recycled materials and will go through a process that cuts chemical consumption. In other words, not only are waterproof, lightweight and comfortable, but they’re good for the environment, as well. (Or at least, not as bad as a lot of other synthetic fabrics.)

To celebrate the launch of Futurelight, The North Face built an elaborate art installation in New York City. In it, you could see its new high-tech jackets floating underneath thinly disguised marketing messages like, “WHAT IF WATERPROOF GEAR KEPT YOU DRY INSIDE AND OUT?” and “WHAT IF BREATHABILITY IS THE BREAKTHROUGH.” There was also a giant triangle displaying images of snow-covered mountains and other outdoor scenes. Of course, it was all relevant to what The North Face is known for: making clothes for adventurous people.

The North Face’s Futurelight jacket collection is available now on its site, with the men’s Flight Series jackets starting at a cool $280. And, eventually, The North Face plans to put the technology in other gear, including tents, gloves and more.

The service is currently limited to women in a wide range of sizes, including shoes from size 5 to 12. Men’s styles are coming in the near future. You won’t necessarily see all your favorite brands, but that’s not really the point — this is more about providing a helping hand to people who don’t have the time to shop, wouldn’t know where to start or want to try something outside of their usual brands.

It might stand a chance of success. Amazon has carried apparel for ages, but it’s far from a household name compared to fashion- and brand-specific stores. This would take advantage of its massive catalog and data to give you a personalized experience that many of those stores can’t offer — it’s not the same as having your own fashion consultant, but it might be close enough.

And yes, this pits Amazon against other companies who’ve had similar ideas. Personal Shopper is likely to clash directly with Stitch Fix, which offers similar functionality. The biggest difference, as Vogue explained, is the option to preview what you’re going to get. Whether or not Amazon prevails is far from clear. It doesn’t have the biggest brands, but its enormous resources and familiarity give it better odds than many competitors.
