This is the 5G version of the Pixel 4a that many have been waiting for since the original debuted during the summer. The hardware is mostly the same as the Pixel 4, but it has a few key differences: it obviously supports 5G and the Pixel 4a 5G also has a larger, 6.2-inch OLED display, the same 16MP ultrawide camera as the Pixel 5 has and a 3,885mAh battery (which is slightly larger than that in the Pixel 4).

The Pixel 4a 5G is currently on waitlist only — you can sign up to be notified when it becomes available at Best Buy and Google’s online store.

Nest Audio — $99

The newest fabric-wrapped smart speaker from Google is the $99 Nest Audio, which has a 19mm tweeter and a 75mm mid-woofer. Google claims it will provide 50 percent more bass and 75 percent more volume than previous Nest speakers. It also supports stereo audio if you have multiple in one household and there’s a mic switch on the device for when you want extra privacy.

Chromecast with Google TV — $49

The new Chromecast with Google TV is the biggest update to the little streaming dongle that we’ve seen in a long time. The device streams 4K HDR content and supports Dolby Vision, putting it in line with some of the newest streaming devices from Roku, Amazon and Apple. For the first time, it has a proper on-screen OS that you can control with the included voice remote, so you’re not forced to use your connected smartphone anymore. Google TV is essentially Android TV with a new skin plus new features, and you can control the entire thing using Google Assistant voice commands.

The OnePlus 7T is quite similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro, a handset that made it into our list of favorite midrange handsets. The most consequential difference between the two is their displays. The 7T has a 6.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display and the Pro has a 6.7-inch 1440p AMOLED screen. Both support a 90Hz refresh rate, but there will be some who want the biggest and best possible display on their smartphones and the Pro is where you’ll find it in this pairing.

Otherwise, the OnePlus 7T takes some premium features from the Pro while downgrading others. The 7T has a smaller, lighter body that’s easier to hold, and it actually has a faster chipset, running on a Snapdragon 855+ processor. It’s only available with 8GB of RAM and this model that’s on sale has 128GB of internal storage. The Pro has the advantage of a larger battery, but the 7T still has a formidable battery life, lasting nearly two days on a single charge when we spent some hands-on time with it. The 7T also has OnePlus’ Warp Charge 30T feature that can fully charge the smartphone within an hour, which is as impressive as it is handy.

If you’re looking for the best deal on a recent OnePlus smartphone, B&H’s sale is worth considering. It may not have the same big, beautiful display that the Pro has, but it remains a sold Android handset that, at this sale price, provides a similar value to that of the €399/$475 OnePlus Nord in the UK and Europe.

Amazon’s latest Fire tablets are on sale right now — the Fire HD 8 is $70, the HD 8 Plus is $90 and the HD 10 is $110. These prices are only $10 more than the tablets’ all-time-lows, making it a decent opportunity to grab one if you can’t wait for when we think Amazon Prime Day will be in the future. We gave the Fire HD 8 a score of 81 thanks to its decent performance, strong battery life and new USB-C charging port (all of the new Fire tablets have this, finally). Fire tablets are not your typical Android tablets, but they are decent devices for media consumption, video-watching and book-reading in particular.

8th-generation iPad

The updated base iPad that was announced only last week is $30 off at Amazon and Walmart. We’ll be giving it the full review treatment soon, but we did notice big improvements in just the first day of use. Thanks to the new A12 Bionic chipset inside, the base iPad is much faster and smoother than the previous generation and it handles multitasking more efficiently. The design may be outdated, but there will undoubtably be sacrifices when you opt for the most affordable iPad you can get.

The latest MacBook Air remains $100 cheaper at Amazon, bringing the starting price down to $899. We gave the MacBook Air a score of 87 for its sharp Retina display, excellent trackpad and improved Magic Keyboard. The latter is one of the biggest things that sets this Air apart from previous models, mostly because typing on the Magic Keyboard is more comfortable (and much less frustrating) than doing so on old butterfly keys.

Samsung may have just announced the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition this week, but it’s already available for for pre-order for $100 less at some retailers. The S20 FE was already a good buy at its normal price tag, but it’s even better at this discount. It has most of the guts found in the standard S20, including a Snapdragon 865 processor, 128GB of storage, a 4,500mAh battery and an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung cut back by reducing the RAM to 6GB, using an FHD display panel and using polycarbonate instead of metal for the FE’s body.

Motorola dropped the price of its 5G-capable Edge handset to $500, which is a more appropriate price tag than the original $700. This one runs on a Snapdragon 765G chipset, 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and it also has a 4,500 mAh battery. It also has the same display panel found on the Edge Plus, which is a lovely OLED 2,340 x 1,080 screen. It was a bit too expensive originally to properly compete with the other stellar midrange options from LG, Samsung and others available now, but at $500, it’s a much better buy.

Apple AirPods Pro at Amazon – $219

A pair of AirPods Pro typically costs $249, and the lowest price you can get it for at this moment is $219 on Amazon, where you can add $19 for an AppleCare+ plan. Still, that’s $8 more than this bundle. You can also always purchase the earphones directly from Apple’s website, but a pair with AppleCare+ will set you back $278, or $48 more than B&H’s limited-time combo offer.

Apple released the AirPods Pro almost a year ago in October 2019. They’re a true wireless earbud model with built-in H1 chip, hands-free Siri, active noise cancellation, transparency mode and on-board controls. For people who have ear shapes not suited for the regular AirPods, though, the Pro’s new design and silicone ear tips are probably its best features. The earbuds, which boast better sound quality than their predecessors, are also sweat and water resistant.

We called the AirPods Pro Apple’s best true wireless earbuds to date in our review and gave them a score of 87. Like any other device in the category, though, they’re easy to drop and lose, especially if you also use them while exercising. AppleCare+ lets you replace a damaged earbud or charging case for $29 per incident instead of having to pay full price for them. You can avail of the plan’s reduced pricing for two incidents within two years, since it also extends Apple’s typical one—year warranty. In addition, it also gets you battery service coverage and express access to the company’s tech-support desk.

For those unaware, the 8th-generation iPad is the newest version of Apple’s entry-level tablet. This model was announced at last week’s hardware event (along with new Apple Watches) and replaces the 7th-generation model but keeps same, affordable $329 starting price.

We have yet to fully review the 8th-generation iPad but our own Chris Velazco liked what he saw during the limited amount of time he spent with the tablet for our hands-on. The latest iPad hasn’t changed much in the way of design, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Sure, it looks a little dated when compared to other iOS devices, but we like its large, 10.2-inch display that continues to support the first-generation Apple Pencil. Also, many will appreciate the everlasting, physical Home button with TouchID that still adorns its bottom bezel.

The biggest changes are inside the tablet as Apple upgraded the processor to its A12 Bionic chipset. That’s a big improvement over the A10 chip inside the previous version. It makes the new iPad noticeably faster and smoother, not to mention better equipped to handle multitasking features in iPadOS 14 and mobile games that require a heftier GPU. The A12 Bionic chipset also includes Apple’s Neural Engine, so the new iPad should be better at handling machine learning-related tasks.

We’ll have a full review of the 8th-generation iPad soon, so you can always be super safe and wait to buy one until the official verdict has been handed out. However, the new tablet is an unquestionable upgrade from the 7th-generation model — and if that’s enough for you, Amazon’s new sale is a good opportunity to grab the latest model for less.

To be clear, the S20 FE isn’t just a Galaxy S20 in name only. It has Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 865 processor, an AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 128GB of upgradeable storage and a 4,500mAh battery, same as the regular $1,000 model. To hit the lower price, Samsung reduced the RAM to 6GB from 12GB, lowered the display resolution to Full HD and swapped out the metal for a polycarbonate body. For folks who just want a powerful phone, that’s a pretty fair trade-off to pay $400 less.

Other desirable features include a 12-megapixel f/1.8 standard wide camera, a 12-megapixel, f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with a 3x optical zoom (or 30x hybrid Space Zoom), and a 32-megapixel selfie camera. It’s also available in multiple colors like “cloud red,” “cloud navy” and “cloud mint.”

The Galaxy SE also comes with 5G connectivity, though the models offered on sale don’t support Verizon’s 5G mmWave network. None of the sites said how long this pre-order deal will last, but it’s no likely it will drop more than that before it starts shipping on October 4th.

The model on sale runs on a 10th-gen Core i5 processor, 16GB of RAM and that expanded 512GB of storage. You’ll snag the deal by combining default savings with a coupon: the laptop is on sale for $1,649, but there’s a $50 coupon on the product page that will be automatically applied at checkout. You shouldn’t have to do anything to apply the coupon, but just make sure you see those savings in your cart right before you make the purchase. It appears the extra $50 coupon is only available for the 512GB model, but the 1TB version is on sale as well for $1,849, which is $150 off its normal price.

The latest MacBook Pros came out in May and we gave the 13-inch model a score of 87. Apple brought the new Magic Keyboard over to the 13-inch Pro (it was already available on the 16-inch Pro and the MacBook Air), dramatically improving the typing experience. It’s much easier and more comfortable to type on this MacBook Pro thanks to the more traditional scissor-switch keys that have replaced the old butterfly key mechanism. We also like the bright, colorful Retina display on this laptop and its healthy 11.5-hour battery life.

There are some caveats to keep in mind, though. For one, the MacBook Pro has limited port options, including only four Thunderbolt 3 ports. We also still don’t think the TouchBar is necessary and the underside of the laptop can get hot after a while. If you can live with those compromises, this new sale is a great opportunity to upgrade your current laptop situation or invest in the latest MacBook Pro.
