The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance will not get a second season. Deadline Hollywood is reporting that the series, a prequel to the 1982 Jim Henson movie, has been cancelled by Netflix. The news comes just hours after the series won its first Emmy award for best children’s program.

Featuring a blend of Henson-esque puppetry and digital effects, the show was fronted by an all-star cast including Nathalie Emmanuel, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Shazad Latif. In a statement, executive producer Lisa Henson said that the team behind the show is “grateful to Netflix for trusting us to realize this ambitious serious,” and that they will “look for ways to tell [more of this] story in future.”

The developers are aiming to serve both veterans of turn-based tactics games and newcomers to the concept, as you might expect for a game banking on a well-known fantasy universe. There’s also a fair amount of depth. The finished title will include over 50 campaign battles, and you can both recruit new fighters as well as customize them with “jobs,” abilities and gear. You might have plenty of replayability, then, if just to see whether or not you can lead your Gelflings to more resounding victories.

Netflix’s Dark Crystal prequel series debuted this week, offering fans another look at the world created by Jim Henson and Frank Oz. The Verge caught up with executive producers Javier Grillo-Marxuach, Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews for a behind-the-scenes interview ahead of the streaming debut. There’s plenty of detail on the cast, the crew, the tech and “Olympic-level puppet-throwing.”

Benedict Wong, who’s surely familiar with star-filled casts from his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will portray The General, while Awkwafina will appear as The Collector. Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and The Wasp) and puppeteer Dave Goelz (who featured in the original Dark Crystal) have also been announced as cast members.
