Google wants more people to check out Stadia Pro, the subscription-based version of its video game streaming service. To that end, the company is adding six titles to its freebie lineup on October 1st, including Dead by Daylight. The asymmetric horror game, which is already available on other platforms, pits four survivors against another human-controlled menace. The Stadia version will support cross-play and Crowd Choice, a streamer-focused feature that allows viewers to vote on what happens next. “Select whether they play as the Killer or a Survivor in Dead by Daylight, then pick which Killer or Survivor they’ll become,” Google teased in a blog post.

Other Stadia Pro additions include Celeste, a critically-acclaimed indie platformer, Human: Fall Flat, a party game with intentionally-bad controls and physics, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, an isometric take on the franchise, Mind Control Delete, a time-bending expansion to Superhot, and Jotun, an action-adventure game about a deceased viking warrior. They’re not the biggest games — not in September 2020, anyway — but generally high quality and worth playing if you haven’t got around to them already.

Behaviour Interactive promised us cross-platform features for Dead by Daylight back in May. Now, the developer has announced that cross-play is live for the PS4, Xbox and Nintendo Switch almost a year after introducing the feature on the Steam and Windows Store versions of the game. As Polygon notes, that greatly expands players’ multiplayer matchmaking pool.

In addition, players can now add friends from across platforms by searching for DBD IDs, giving them a way to play the 4v1 survival horror game with almost anybody they want. “As discussed in an earlier post about Cross-Play, the ability to play with friends from any and all platforms was a feature widely requested by the community,” the developer said in its announcement.

If you prefer to play as a survivor, you can adopt the guise of Silent Hill 3 protagonist Cheryl Mason (though she was known as Heather in that game). She’ll have DBD’s first legendary skin — you’ll be able to turn Cheryl into student nurse Lisa Garland. You can try to escape Pyramid Head in Midwich Elementary School, a key location in the original Silent Hill, and maybe even look around for some Easter eggs (if you dare).

The paid Silent Hill DLC will be available on PC and consoles in June, but you can play as Pyramid Head right now on the PC public test server. This isn’t DBD’s first crossover with another horror game, as Bill from Left 4 Dead arrived in 2017.

It also emerged during the stream that cross-platform play is coming to Dead by Daylight later this year — in addition to PC and consoles, the game hit mobile last month. The Behavior team is working on a graphics overhaul as well. The Silent Hill crossover might be the most exciting addition for many though, especially given that it might be the only way you’ll get a new taste of that franchise any time soon.

You can take control of the Demogorgon and hunt down survivors. Alternatively, you can play as Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington — a wise choice, since including the young teen stars of Stranger Things as possible murder victims might have been a little much. They’ll be available in September as part of the Stranger Things DLC Chapter, alongside a new map: the underground complex below the Hawkins National Laboratory.

Of course, Dead by Daylight isn’t the Netflix franchise’s only foray into games. Stranger Things 3: The Game, a tie-in for the third season, arrived in July, while Fortnite had a Stranger Things tie-in. A mobile RPG is also on the way next year.
