Your screens are starting to feature higher and higher resolutions so it makes sense that your controllers should also become more precise, or at least that’s what the marketing hype suggests. Either way, Logitech has advanced the sensor technology in its high-end gaming mice so that the HERO (High Efficiency Rated Optical) sensor is capable of tracking movement at the sub-micron level for the first time, going from 16,000 DPI to 25,000 DPI.

The better news is that for owners of certain newer models, you can experience the upgrade for free via a software update. As Slashgear points out, while some older HERO-equipped models are left out, the newer ones with an upgraded sensor include the Pro, G903 HERO, G502 Lightspeed, Pro Wireless, G703 HERO, G604, G502 HERO and G403 HERO.

How do you become a star on Twitch or one of the other streaming services? Some gaming skills and a distinctive personality are probably a good start, but just in case the real secret is colorful gear, then a new set of hardware from Logitech will help. The G-Series Color Collection includes a new wireless stereo headset with interchangeable elastic bands and microphone covers, plus a keyboard and two mouse options — wired or wireless.

The $130 G733 headset is the flagship product of the group. While it relies on DTS Headphone:X for surround sound effects from stereo audio, it has Lightspeed low-latency wireless tech, as well as customizable RGB lighting and voice filters to help keep your fans engaged once they find your stream. At 50 percent volume, Logitech says its battery will last for more than 29 hours, and it’s also compatible for use with the PlayStation 4.

Late last year Logitech acquired Blue Microphones, and a tweet indicates their next combo project is for gamers. We’ve already seen the debut of the Blue Ember XLR microphone for streamers, but it seems likely that this Logitech G product will actually be a new set of Blue-designed headphones for the gaming lineup. All we can see is a logo that’s probably located on an ear cup — that bears little resemblance to the older A Logitech G933 gaming headset pictured above — but what they’ll sound like is what matters, and Blue has come through on that front before.

Expect them to be unveiled July 9th — the usual set of streamers and influencers are already touting the unveiling date on their Twitch channels and social media profiles — when we should find out how these will help you get more kills and/or talk to the folks in the stream chat a little more clearly.
