When Nintendo introduced Mario Kart Tour for Android and iPhone last year, it made a couple of questionable decisions, like not offering a multiplayer experience and making the game playable only in portrait mode. Nintendo added multiplayer mode in March, and today, it made the game playable in landscape.

You can now flip between portrait and landscape while you’re playing, and landscape mode offers a new control layout. The changes make a lot of sense and will likely make the game a bit more appealing.

EA hasn’t given an explanation for retiring the games. It did say, “we have had an amazing journey with you so far but sadly, it’s time to say goodbye.” The decision likely comes down to licensing. EA was once the exclusive Tetris license holder, but that expired a while ago, and it appears EA just doesn’t want to renew. Existing users should be able to continue playing the games until they expire in April.

When Tetris turned 35 last year, we called it one of the best puzzle games of all time, partly because of its enduring popularity. EA’s decision to retire the app will undoubtedly upset diehard fans. Though, fans can choose from plenty of other mobile Tetris games. Tetris Royale, the mobile title by N3TWORK and The Tetris Company that will include a 100-player battle mode, is in development for iPhone, iPad and Android, and it should be ready sometime this year. If you have a Switch, you might opt for Tetris 99.

In a statement posted in the App Store, EA wrote:

Hello Fans, We have had an amazing journey with you so far but sadly, it is time to say goodbye. As of April 21, 2020, EA’s Tetris® app will be retired, and will no longer be available to play. Kindly note that you will still be able to enjoy the game and use any existing in-game items until April 21, 2020. We hope you have gotten many hours of enjoyment out of this game and we appreciate your ongoing support. Thank you!

Other community day perks include Foundables appearing more frequently, a free store pack featuring Spell Energy from the Diagon Alley shop and Dark Detectors that last twice as long. Community days were popular with Pokémon Go, and it’s not surprising that Ninantic would want to build a similar following around Wizards Unite. While Pokémon Go’s community days were monthly events, Ninantic and WB Games haven’t said how often they’ll host the Wizards Unite equivalent.

As you’d expect, the game will make it easy to find friends on Facebook or Line. You’ll be able to see their progress, send them hearts, and most importantly, challenge them to a battle. The matches will take place in real-time, and as you eliminate viruses, you’ll fill your attack meter. When it’s full, you can sabotage opponents by sending the viruses to them. How many viruses you send will depend on your doctor’s attack power. You can hone other skills like speed and defense, too.

The free-to-play game will be available on Android and iOS. Like the ’90s version for NES, SNES and Game Boy, Dr. Mario World offers a Tetris-like experience. It may have to compete with other mobile revivals of classics, like Tetris Royale, which is also in development.

The free-to-play game is location-based, said Chris Lee, Netflix’s director of interactive games, and it has Google Maps integration. You’ll battle against the evils of The Upside Down with other players. Lee added that the game adopts an ’80s Saturday morning cartoon art style rather than the 16-bit look of the other Stranger Things games. You can expect to find out more details about the RPG ahead of its arrival on iOS and Android next year.

BTS World, which launches on iOS and Android on June 26, gives players the chance to manage the chart-topping boy band from the very beginning. The game’s website indicates that at least some of the action will unfold like a visual novel, and a recent report from CNBC suggests other in-game tasks include finding the boys a proper dormitory to live in. That’s… not an easy feat when consider each member of the group has their own preferences. (One of them apparently wants to live close to a convenience store, which some of you will surely be able to relate to.)

Beyond these seemingly limited gameplay mechanics, players will also be able to access dozens of video clips of the septet, along with nearly 10,000 photos and a soundtrack crafted by the boys themselves. For now, though, it’s unclear how many of those goodies will be available to users right out of the gate — while developer Netmarble plans to release BTS World for free, the company’s fondness for in-app purchases will almost certainly restrict some of the goodies for paying customers.
