To power those electric vehicles, the plan pushes for 100 percent clean energy, which could create as many as 530,000 new jobs annually. Federal solar and wind tax credits would be extended through 2025, The Washington Post notes, and there would be additional support for R&D around clean energy technologies, especially energy storage.

According to Gizmodo, the plan would reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 37 percent below 2010 levels by 2030, and 88 percent below 2010 levels by 2050. Other key measures include developing carbon removal technology, investing in green manufacturing and construction, improving labor standards, advancing environmental justice, managing climate risks to public health, investing in resilient agriculture and creating a “green bank.”

Some argue that the plan could be more ambitious. While it borrows from the Green New Deal, it isn’t as aggressive. There’s also little chance that the plan will become law while Republicans control the Senate and President Trump is in the White House. That said, this is an election year, and the political balance could shift by 2021, at which point, the plan may have more of a chance.

“Even if they know it’s not true, they will print it,” Pelosi said, apparently referencing Facebook’s political ad policy which caused a stir last year. Facebook also refused to take down a doctored video of Pelosi that made her appear drunk. At the time, she accused Facebook of enabling the Russian interference in the 2016 election. Now, Pelosi says, “they intend to be accomplices in misleading the American people.”

Pelosi went on to accuse Facebook of schmoozing the Trump Administration in order to get tax cuts and to avoid antitrust action. “I think they have been very abusive of the great opportunity that technology has given them,” Pelosi said, calling Facebook’s behavior shameful.

Facebook is attempting to thread the needle between censoring the unquestionably altered video and allowing people to share what they want. In contrast, YouTube has opted to remove the video altogether, according to CNN. While Facebook’s approach will attempt to dispell some of the misinformation created by the video, it may be too late for that. The edited footage has already racked up millions of views on Facebook alone and has been shared by President Donald Trump (he has since deleted it), former mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani and a number of other high-profile people. The addition of a disclaimer won’t retroactively inform viewers who have already seen and shared the video.

Facebook has attempted to take a more active role in stopping the spread of fake news in recent months, cracking down on fake accounts and trying to make misinformation on controversial topics like vaccines less visible. However, the company has always been a little tepid to actually remove content. It took years for Facebook to ban Alex Jones and InfoWars from its platform despite regularly sharing false information.
