[ad_1] The Witcher hasn’t even arrived on Netflix, and it’s already being renewed. Netflix shared the news on Twitter today, and Deadline reports that production of the eight-episode second season will begin in early 2020. The second season could debut in 2021. [ad_2] Source link

Netflix explains why its apps won’t work on older TVs and set-top boxes

[ad_1] Speaking to Gizmodo, a Netflix spokesperson said the issue was that these older devices run Windows Media DRM, a digital right management service which has since been replaced by Microsoft PlayReady. Netflix has used PlayReady since 2010, as it is easier to get content from movie studios and other providers in that format. From […]

Netflix is dropping support for older Samsung smart TVs in December

[ad_1] The news isn’t too surprising — Netflix cannot support all hardware indefinitely — but it is still a bummer. In a statement provided to Engadget, a Netflix spokesperson said: “On December 2nd, […]

Netflix’s ‘Heartstrings’ trailer reimagines Dolly Parton songs as dramas

[ad_1] The trailer has strong Hallmark Channel vibes, but if you’ve listened (read: dramatically sung along) to “Jolene” on repeat, you might be able to look past the cheesiness long enough to give the series a shot. Netflix first announced the collaboration with Parton in 2018. She will serve as the singer and songwriter for […]

Seth Meyers’ Netflix special will have a button to skip Trump jokes

[ad_1] It’ll work similarly to the “Skip Intro” or “Next Episode” prompts you already see on Netflix. Meyers, who brought the idea to Netflix, told CNN the button is just “another joke in the special” and shouldn’t be taken too seriously. In fact, he doesn’t think many folks will actually use it. Netflix has tried […]

Netflix’s first scripted podcast is an offshoot of ‘Daybreak’

[ad_1] The podcast will be exclusive to Spotify until December 12th, when it’ll roll out to Apple Podcasts and other platforms. The company explained this as a logical extension of its video efforts. Podcasts offer “more freedom to explore and go deeper,” Netflix’s Rae Votta said, and Daybreak has plenty of room for that. You […]

‘The Witcher’ will debut on Netflix December 20th

[ad_1] Perhaps more importantly, it offers an introduction to protagonist Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), and provides a little detail on what a witcher actually is in the show’s universe — a roving, mutated monster hunter for hire. It leans into a meme from The Witcher 3 as well, with a scene featuring Geralt in […]

Amazon will pull its movies from theaters to Prime faster

[ad_1] In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said the company is working on getting movies to its Prime subscribers “as soon as possible.” Part of that means fulfilling contractual obligations around theatrical release, but it’s prepared to take a hit on that if it means a later pay-off on Prime.
