Disintegration is set around two centuries in the future. The characters are neither human nor machine, but rather armored beings with human brains, with all the good and bad that entails. In the single-player campaign, pure robots are bent on eliminating humanity, while the hero Rohmer Shoal leads the transhumans in a fight to save it.

V1 Interactive is a relatively small studio and Disintegration already was already ambitious in terms of the look, themes and gameplay. The multiplayer mode perhaps was a step too far, though the developer expressed no regrets: “We believe the video game industry needs constant innovation, and we will continue to take risks, follow creative visions, and support new ideas.”

Apple TV+ is just hours from debuting and Disney+ will be here in a couple of weeks, giving Hulu less time to catch up with the pack in terms of streaming features. The video service finally added the ability to download shows for offline viewing earlier this month, but until now it only worked on iOS devices. If you use Android or Amazon’s FireOS instead of an iPhone or iPad, then we have good news, now you can download shows and movies too — perhaps something Halloween themed like Castle Rock season two.

With the new SDK, users can ask Alexa to do things like turn on the AC, tune the radio or make a call — even when connectivity is intermittent or nonexistent. That’s thanks to a “Local Voice Control” extension that allows automakers to add a scaled-down version of Alexa’s cloud-based service to a vehicle’s infotainment system. It acts as a backup and is meant to increase the resiliency of Alexa’s cloud-based capabilities.

Amazon introduced the Alexa Auto SDK last year, making the tools accessible to all developers via GitHub. Audi, BMW and Toyota have all added Alexa capabilities to their infotainment systems. But not all automakers have signed on. GM recently announced it would bring Google Assistant to Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac. The brand of voice-assistant that automakers choose could become an important selling point. According to a JD Power study conducted for Amazon, 76 percent of respondents said they want the same brand of voice service in both their home and their next vehicle.

To save on data, the downloads take place only while your device is connected to Wi-Fi and happen overnight. We aren’t positive, but YouTube’s automatic video downloads, will likely do the same.

Google is currently accepting applications for a new beta that will allow testers to mark the non-Google files they want for offline access. Unfortunately, only G Suite organizations can apply to be part of the testing period, and those who do get the chance to use it early can only take advantage of the feature if they’re using the Chrome browser. They have to enable offline mode from within the Drive or Docs settings first and then sign into the account associated with the approved G Suite organization before they see the option to save files offline.

Google says the current version of the feature doesn’t work with Chrome OS, but it’s working to bring it to the platform in the future. No word yet on whether it’s also coming to other browsers other than Chrome — let’s just keep our fingers crossed for wider compatibility when it’s ready for rollout.

With the original release of Tetris 99 earlier this year, Nintendo brought an exciting hook to the classic game with a Battle Royale mode. It not only lets you fight against 98 opponents, but your success in clearing lines and gaining badges can hasten your rival’s defeat. 98 players get whittled down to 50, then 10, leading to the eventual winner.

The offline CPU Battle mode works in much the same way, but against computer opponents rather than live players. That will let you hone your skills before facing off against human players. If you get good enough, Nintendo also announced the Tetris 99 3rd Maximus Cup running from May 17-19 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the game. Participate who earn at least 100 event points will unlock an in-game theme inspired by Nintendo’s original Game Boy Tetris version.
