Google is marking World Refugee Day by making it easier for the displaced to get the support they need. It’s working with the UNHCR to show “authoritative” answers in search to questions refugees might have, such as how to qualify for cash assistance and what happens during the refugee status interview. This ideally helps refugees get the support they need as quickly as possible and focus on starting life in a new country.

The answers are initially available in Arabic, English, Farsi and Turkish to help people in Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey. They represent the countries with the highest volume of refugees per capita, Google said. This won’t guarantee a smooth transition for every refugee, but it could save them the trouble of combing through information and might eliminate some anxiety at an already stressful time in their lives.

The AP said in June that Homeland Security was planning to expand its social media collection, but there haven’t been details until now.

There have been numerous objections to Homeland Security’s practices, particularly since the visa requirements took effect in May. It’s not clear just how investigators conduct searches, or what they’re specifically looking for. There have also been multiple instances of questionable decisions, such as a Harvard student who was denied a visa based on his friends’ posts, not his own (he’s since been cleared). There are concerns that authorities might either make bad judgment calls or abuse the requirements to reject people based on thin pretexts.

Airbnb Donations is an expansion of the company’s existing Open Homes initiative, which launched in 2017 and encourages hosts to open their doors for those who need a place to stay. The program started in the wake of President Trump’s attempted immigration ban and allows hosts to volunteer their homes as temporary safe havens for refugees and those displaced by natural disasters. According to Airbnb, the program has already helped 25,000 people and it hopes to provide temporary housing to 100,000 by 2022.

Donations offers an alternative solution to actually offering up one’s home to individuals in need, instead of sending funds to organizations have that the infrastructure to house many. Airbnb is partnering with Hands and Hearts, Make-A-Wish Foundation, International Rescue Committee and Mercy Corps for the initiative. The company said that if every host in the US contributed just one percent of their earnings, the partnering nonprofits could find housing for as many as two million people this year alone.
