EA may have lit a fire under video game skateboarders with news that the Skate series will return, but before that happens Activision is going to deliver its remastered collection of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2. Now the company has announced that not only will the HD version include the original roster of skaters (at the ages they were when the games launched), but it’s also adding eight new athletes from today’s scene: Lizzie Armanto, Leo Baker, Leticia Bufoni, Riley Hawk, Nyjah Huston, Tyshawn Jones, Aori Nishimura, and Shane O’Neill.

While the game itself is still scheduled for release on September 4th, Activision is teasing access to a demo of the game’s Warehouse level on August 14th — if you pre-order a digital copy on PS4, Xbox One or PC via the Epic Games Store. So far the company hasn’t mentioned when or if the rest of us will get to try it out for free. The remastered edition will cost $39.99, with deluxe editions that add some additional gear for an extra $10.

25 years after Westwood Studios’ first Command & Conquer game kicked off the hit real-time strategy series, gamers can roll back the clock with the Remastered Collection. Now available on both EA’s Origin store and Steam for $20, it includes both both Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert, as well as their expansion packs: Covert Ops, Counterstrike and The Aftermath.

The games are now playable in 4K with updates that touch the in-game graphics — you can switch back and forth between the old and new looks on the fly — as well as its music and cheesy FMV scenes that are now in HD with subtitles. For the launch, EA brought back an old friend from the Brotherhood of Nod.

Besides graphical enhancements, EA says fans can expect to find updated controls and a tweaked user interface. The bundle will feature full multiplayer support out of the box. There will be one-on-one quick matches, elo-based matchmaking, leaderboards and replays.

One of the studios that helped develop the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection was Petroglyph Games. It was founded by former Westwood Studios employees, including several people who worked on the original C&C. Original series composer Frank Klepacki was one of the people who returned to work on the remaster. So don’t worry, “Hell March” definitely got the care and attention it deserves. The development team also found a way to restore the franchise’s iconic full-motion video (FMV) cutscenes.

Besides the $20 digital edition, EA, with the help of Limited Run Games, plans to release two physical versions that come with a host of extras. They’ll cost $60 and $150 respectively. If you’re an Origin Access Premier subscriber, the game is included in your subscription.

According to the listings, Platinum will re-release both games on February 18th to celebrate their 10-year anniversaries. What’s more, both titles will be playable at 4K and 60 frames per second on the Xbox One X. You could already play the games at 4K on PC if you had the necessary hardware. At the moment, it’s unclear if the remasters will make their way to PlayStation 4 as well — though that seems like a safe bet. While it’s best to be skeptical of any leak, retailer listings tend to be more accurate than others — see the massive Walmart Canada leak that came out ahead of E3 2018.

Bayonetta and Vanquish have a lot of history between the two of them. Of the two, most people are probably more familiar with Bayonetta. It first came out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2009, before making its way to Nintendo Switch, Wii U and PC in later years. It was directed by Devil May Cry (and Okami) creator Hideki Kamiya. Like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta is an over-the-top action game. Players control Bayonetta, a shapeshifting witch, through a variety of thrilling combat encounters. The game is equal parts bizarre and brilliant.

Vanquish, meanwhile, is best described as a fast-paced and very anime take on Gears of War. It was first released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010, and was directed by Resident Evil mastermind Shinji Mikami. The story is mostly nonsensical, but the game itself is a lot of fun, especially if you grew up on a diet of action movies. Vanquish is more of a cult-classic than Bayonetta (the latter has spawned two sequels), but both are well worth your time if you enjoy something a bit more off the beaten path.
