There aren’t any more details about the release schedule yet, including whether Disney will follow the same track it did for season one by debuting episodes weekly instead of making all of them available at once. You can probably expect at least one trailer before the premiere date to whet your appetite for more bounty-hunting (or Child-protecting) adventures.

Despite the tepid reception the platform has received (to put it mildly), Quibi snagged its first Emmy nominations too. It picked up ten overall, mostly for acting performances in short-form shows. Quibi also earned Outstanding Short Form Comedy Or Drama Series nods for Reno 911! and Most Dangerous Game.

Netflix, on the other hand, is more of an Emmy juggernaut than ever this year. It received 160 nominations, by far the most of any network or platform. The Crown, Ozark, Stranger Things, Dead To Me, The Kominsky Method, Unbelievable and Unorthodox all received best series nominations in their respective categories. The company also dominated the television movie category with four of the five slots.

Amazon picked up 30 nominations for Prime Video series, including 20 nods for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale returned to the Best Drama Series lineup, with the streaming service claiming 26 nominations overall. Meanwhile, Oculus received three nods and YouTube landed two. HBO’s Watchmen scored the most nominations of any show with 26. You can check out the full list of nominees at the Emmys website.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars wrapped up its final season on Disney+ a couple of months ago, but there’s another animated series in the works from a galaxy far, far away. Star Wars: The Bad Batch will premiere on the streaming service next year.

It’ll follow the Bad Batch (surprisingly enough), a group of experimental clones who debuted in The Clone Wars. Each of them has a unique skill, “which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew,” according to a Star Wars blog post. The Bad Batch will tackle missions as mercenaries while they seek a new purpose “in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.”

Squadrons takes place after Return of the Jedi, and there’ll be both a single-player campaign and multiplayer. The trailer is more about setting the tone and giving you an idea of what’s in store, rather than delving too heavily into the features, but it sure does look pretty.

What we do know so far is that the online modes include five vs. five dogfights and Fleet Battles, in which you’ll work with your teammates to take down the enemy flagship. You’ll prepare for missions with the rest of your squadron in a briefing room before hopping into your starfighter and going into battle. Squadrons will feature familiar locations and brand new ones, including Yavin Prime and the moon of Galitan. EA suggests that team composition will be important too.

The single-player campaign takes place after the Battle of Endor and the destruction of the Death Star II. You’ll swap between the perspectives of two pilots: one from the New Republic’s heroic Vanguard Squadron and the other representing the Empire’s Titan Squadron. Both pilots are customizable and the campaign will feature an array of original characters. You might also spot cameos from some familiar faces.

One option you’ll have at your disposal in battle is to divert power between your ship’s different systems. You’ll be able to pilot a bunch of different Imperial and Rebel starfighters (including X-wings and TIE fighters), which you’ll be able to modify.

Although there are cosmetics and gameplay modifiers — such as weapons, hulls, engines and shields — EA said you’ll be able to earn all of these through gameplay alone. The publisher faced a firestorm over how it initially handled loot boxes in Battlefront II, with many criticizing it for a system that would have essentially paywalled certain upgrades.

Squadrons will be released on October 2nd and it’ll cost $39.99. If you’re an EA Access or Origin Access Basic member, you’ll be able to play 10 hours of Squadrons at launch, and you’ll save 10 percent off the retail price if you buy it. Origin Access Premier subscribers will get full access to the game on PC. Meanwhile, PS4 players can claim some bonus cosmetics if they pre-order.

You can expect to learn plenty more about Star Wars: Squadrons ahead of the release date. EA will keep the ball rolling with a gameplay preview at EA Play this Thursday.

Disney has lined up Academy Award winner and noted Apple keyboard hater Taika Waititi to direct and co-write a Star Wars movie. Waititi already has some professional experience with that universe, as he directed the season finale of The Mandalorian.

He’s a highly-regarded filmmaker, who’s behind the likes of Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Waititi won an Oscar this year for writing Jojo Rabbit, and he’ll collaborate on the Star Wars script with 1917 co-writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns.

Among the more notable titles is its adaptation of The Witcher, which has already been renewed for a second season and will arrive on December 20th. Lost in Space will return for its second season December 24th.

The final season of Fuller House and Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show will be available December 6th, while Magic for Humans‘ second season drops two days earlier. Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder’s new vampire series V Wars debuts December 5th, and the second season of You arrives on the 26th.

After The Irishman drops later this month, Netflix has another couple of awards contenders lined up: divorce drama Marriage Story (December 6th) and City of God director Fernando Meirelles’ The Two Popes (December 20th). Also on the original movie front, Michael Bay’s 6 Underground, which stars Ryan Reynolds, arrives December 13th.

Elsewhere, Netflix will deliver A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby December 5th. Filipino drama Dead Kids arrives December 1st, while Soundtrack, a musical drama about love in Los Angeles, will hit Netflix December 18th. From December 26th, you can check out The App, a Netflix original film about an actor who becomes obsessed with a dating app.

In the six-part docuseries Kevin Hart: Don’t F**k This Up (December 27th), the comedian and his family discuss his life, including the fallout from the backlash to his planned Oscar-hosting stint. Other documentaries include The Confession Killer (December 6th), Don’t F**k With Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer (December 18th) and After The Raid (December 19th).

On the reality front, you can catch Glow Up, a beauty reality series focused on aspiring makeup artists (December 6th), and the second part of Terrace House: Tokyo 2019-2020 on December 24th. You can expect stand-up specials from Tiffany Haddish, Michelle Wolf and Ronny Chieng to each drop a week apart starting December 3rd. John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch (December 24th), meanwhile, is a musical comedy show featuring Mulaney and guests including Jake Gyllenhaal and Natasha Lyonne.

As for licensed material, the Austin Powers trilogy will be available from December 1st, along with A Night at the Roxbury, The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, Hustle & Flow, Searching for Sugar Man and A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish. The third season of Outlander drops on Netflix December 10th, and all six seasons of Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Private Practice arrive December 22nd. The Secret Life of Pets 2 will be available December 27th, and you’ll be able to stream several James Bond movies from December 31st.

Both Thor: Ragnarok and Star Wars: The Last Jedi will hit Disney+ a day later after they leave Netflix (December 4th and 25th respectively). Several major nature documentaries will depart December 2nd, including both iterations of Planet Earth, The Blue Planet, Nature’s Great Events and Frozen Planet. You’ll also have until December 31st to stream the following on Netflix: Pulp Fiction, Frasier, Rocky I-V, The Dark Crystal, Wet Hot American Summer, White Christmas and Black Hawk Down.

Right out of the gate, Disney+ appears to be a smash hit. The company already scored a number of preorders ahead of the platform’s release when it offered a steep discount for a 3-year subscription but it seems that most of us were waiting for the official launch. So many people, in fact, that the site was temporarily knocked offline on opening day.

You won’t find every Marvel Comics Universe movie on Disney+, but 16 out of 23 isn’t a bad start. We’ll have to wait for Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp and the latest Spider-Man movies, however. Netflix still holds the rights to those.

It’s not everyday that you find yourself wishing for the bad old days of SD television, yet today is one of them. Because Disney+ insists on streaming its back catalog of Simpsons episodes in 16:9 fans are finding that a number of iconic visual gags are being unceremoniously cropped out of frame. Luckily, Disney owns the rights to the 4:3 versions as well so a fix might not be too far off.

The Simpsons aren’t the only series getting a format change with the release of Disney+. All of the Star Wars, including the original three, are now available in 4K. You can’t get those anywhere else, online or off.

Speaking of Star Wars, Amazon is doing its best Palpatine impression over the DoD’s lucrative (albeit controversial) JEDI contract, which is designed to help streamline the military’s operations in the cloud. The DoD had awarded Microsoft the contract last month, shortly after Google had removed itself from the running, but now Amazon is claiming that the decision was somehow biased and is taking the government to court.

The collection includes BB-8, C-3PO and R2-D2 cocottes ($30 each or $90 for the set) and Death Star and Millennium Falcon trivets ($20 each). Williams Sonoma doesn’t have pre-orders available for the $900 Tattooine Dutch oven, unfortunately, but Le Creuset’s only offering four of those in the US, so it’ll likely sell those directly.

There are some Star Wars cookbooks from which you can take inspiration for your culinary concoctions with this cookware. It’s a touch disappointing there’s no Le Creuset Star Wars skillet, though. It’ll be a little more awkward to whip up blue milk pancakes in a French oven.
