<p>It’s almost time to get obsessed with <a href="https://www.engadget.com/baby-yoda-ears-echo-dot-200525326.html">Baby Yoda</a> all over again. <p>There aren’t any more details about the release schedule yet, including whether Disney will follow the same track it did for season one by debuting episodes weekly instead of making all of them available at once. You can probably expect at least one trailer before the premiere date to whet your appetite for more bounty-hunting (or Child-protecting) adventures.</p>

<p>Despite the tepid reception the platform has received (<a href="https://www.engadget.com/quibi-mobile-video-review-040106790.html">to put it mildly</a>), Quibi snagged its first Emmy nominations too. It picked up ten overall, mostly for acting performances in short-form shows. Quibi also earned Outstanding Short Form Comedy Or Drama Series nods for <a href="https://www.engadget.com/2019-12-06-reno-911-quibi.html"><em>Reno 911!</em></a> and <em>Most Dangerous Game</em>.</p>
<p>Netflix, on the other hand, is more of an <a href="https://www.engadget.com/2019-09-22-2019-emmy-awards.html">Emmy juggernaut</a> than ever this year. It received 160 nominations, by far the most of any network or platform. <a href="https://www.engadget.com/netflix-the-crown-season-six-165512911.html"><em>The Crown</em></a><em>, </em><a href="https://www.engadget.com/2020-03-23-whats-on-tv-this-week-ozark-season-three.html"><em>Ozark</em></a><em>, </em><a href="https://www.engadget.com/2020-02-14-stranger-things-4-teaser.html"><em>Stranger Things</em></a><em>, Dead To Me, </em><a href="https://www.engadget.com/2019-01-20-netflix-renews-the-kominsky-method-after-golden-globes.html"><em>The Kominsky Method</em></a><em>, Unbelievable </em>and <em>Unorthodox </em>all<em> </em>received best series nominations in their respective categories. The company also dominated the television movie category with four of the five slots.</p>
<p>Amazon picked up 30 nominations for Prime Video series, including 20 nods for <a href="https://www.engadget.com/2019-08-19-amazon-unveils-trailer-for-third-season-of-the-marvelous-mrs-m.html"><em>The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.</em></a> Hulu’s <a href="https://www.engadget.com/2019-07-26-hulu-the-handmaids-tale-renewed-season-four.html"><em>The Handmaid&#8217;s Tale</em></a><em> </em>returned to the Best Drama Series lineup, with the streaming service claiming 26 nominations overall. Meanwhile, Oculus received three nods and YouTube landed two. HBO’s <em>Watchmen </em>scored the most nominations of any show with 26. <p><em>Star Wars: The Clone Wars</em> wrapped up its final season <a href="https://www.engadget.com/2019-08-23-clone-wars-disney-plus.html">on Disney+</a> a couple of months ago, but there’s another animated series in the works from a galaxy far, far away. <em>Star Wars: The Bad Batch</em> will premiere on the streaming service next year.</p>

<p>It’ll follow <a href="https://www.starwars.com/databank/clone-force-99-bad-batch" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">the Bad Batch</a> (surprisingly enough), a group of experimental clones who debuted in <em>The Clone Wars. </em>Each of them has a unique skill, “which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew,” according to <a href="https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-the-bad-batch-series-announce" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">a Star Wars blog post</a>. The Bad Batch will tackle missions as mercenaries while they seek a new purpose “in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.”</p>

<p><em>Squadrons </em>takes place after <em>Return of the Jedi</em>, and there’ll be both a single-player campaign and multiplayer. The trailer is more about setting the tone and giving you an idea of what’s in store, rather than delving too heavily into the features, but it sure does look pretty.</p>
<figure class="iframe-container"><iframe width="1280" height="720" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/w0eRkhR1z6A" allowfullscreen="false" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe></figure>
<p>What we do <a href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20200615005576/en/EA-Motive-Lucasfilm-Announce-Star-Wars%E2%84%A2-Squadrons" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">know so far</a> is that the online modes include five vs. five dogfights and Fleet Battles, in which you’ll work with your teammates to take down the enemy flagship. You’ll prepare for missions with the rest of your squadron in a briefing room before hopping into your starfighter and going into battle. <em>Squadrons </em>will feature familiar locations and brand new ones, including Yavin Prime and the moon of Galitan. EA suggests that team composition will be important too.</p>
<p>The single-player campaign takes place after the Battle of Endor and the destruction of the Death Star II. You’ll swap between the perspectives of two pilots: one from the New Republic’s heroic Vanguard Squadron and the other representing the Empire’s Titan Squadron. Both pilots are customizable and the campaign will feature an array of original characters. You might also spot cameos from some familiar faces.</p>
<figure><img decoding="async" src="https://www.efrtechgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Star-Wars-Squadrons-will-let-you-pilot-an-X-wing-in.jpeg" alt="Star Wars: Squadron" credit="EA Motive" crediturl="" data-ops=""/></p>
<p>EA Motive</p>
</figure>
<p>One option you’ll have at your disposal in battle is to divert power between your ship’s different systems. You’ll be able to pilot a bunch of different Imperial and Rebel starfighters (<a href="https://www.theverge.com/21289266/star-wars-squadrons-game-trailer-multiplayer-team-x-wing" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">including</a> X-wings and TIE fighters), which you’ll be able to modify.</p>
<p>Although there are cosmetics and gameplay modifiers &#8212; such as weapons, hulls, engines and shields &#8212; EA said you’ll be able to earn all of these through gameplay alone. The publisher faced a firestorm over how it <a href="https://www.engadget.com/2017-10-31-battlefront-ii-loot-crate-changes.html">initially handled loot boxes</a> in <em>Battlefront II</em>, with many <a href="https://www.engadget.com/2017-10-12-ea-rebuffs-pay-to-win-loot-criticism-of-sw-battlefront-2.html">criticizing it</a> for a system that would have essentially paywalled certain upgrades.</p>
<p><em>Squadrons </em>will be released on October 2nd and it’ll cost $39.99. If you’re an EA Access or Origin Access Basic member, you’ll be able to play 10 hours of <em>Squadrons </em>at launch, and you’ll save 10 percent off the retail price if you buy it. Origin Access Premier subscribers will get full access to the game on PC. Meanwhile, PS4 players can claim some <a href="https://twitter.com/Wario64/status/1272544549747843072" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">bonus cosmetics</a> if they pre-order.</p>
<p>You can expect to learn plenty more about <em>Star Wars: Squadrons </em>ahead of the release date. EA will keep the ball rolling with a gameplay preview at <a href="https://www.engadget.com/ea-play-delayed-steam-game-festival-210350041.html">EA Play this Thursday.</a></p>

<p>He’s a highly-regarded filmmaker, who’s behind the likes of <em>Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do In The Shadows </em>and <em>Hunt for the Wilderpeople.</em> Waititi won an Oscar this year for writing <em>Jojo Rabbit, </em>and he’ll collaborate on the Star Wars script with <em>1917 </em>co-writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns.</p>

<p>Right out of the gate, Disney+ appears to be a smash hit. The company already scored a number of preorders ahead of the platform&#8217;s release when it offered a steep discount for a 3-year subscription but it seems that most of us were waiting for the official launch. So many people, in fact, that the site was <a href="https://www.engadget.com/2019/11/12/disney-plus-unable-to-connect-error/">temporarily knocked offline on opening day</a>.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" alt="dasg" data-caption="dasg" data-credit="" data-credit-link-back="" data-dam-provider="" data-local-id="local-3-7609417-1573842498947" data-media-id="c41c775b-55e2-4c8a-9626-3b7748ac44f5" data-original-url="https://s.yimg.com/os/creatr-uploaded-images/2019-11/a7776670-07d5-11ea-bffd-e691955b4ff2" data-title="dasg" src="https://www.efrtechgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/1574009582_977_After-Math-Everythings-coming-up-Disney.jpeg"/></p>
<p>You won&#8217;t find every Marvel Comics Universe movie on Disney+, but 16 out of 23 isn&#8217;t a bad start. We&#8217;ll have to wait for <em>Black Panther</em>, <em>Ant-Man and the Wasp</em> and the latest <em>Spider-Man</em> movies, however. Netflix still holds the rights to those.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" alt="dasg" data-caption="dasg" data-credit="" data-credit-link-back="" data-dam-provider="" data-local-id="local-4-16587-1573842498951" data-media-id="a0f247fe-b886-4f18-a289-d290b38e3b2f" data-original-url="https://s.yimg.com/os/creatr-uploaded-images/2019-11/a752c770-07d5-11ea-bbbf-7eecc78b6180" data-title="dasg" src="https://www.efrtechgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/1574009582_558_After-Math-Everythings-coming-up-Disney.jpeg"/></p>
<p>It&#8217;s not everyday that you find yourself wishing for the bad old days of SD television, yet today is one of them. Because Disney+ insists on streaming its back catalog of Simpsons episodes in 16:9 fans are finding that a number of iconic visual gags are being unceremoniously cropped out of frame. Luckily, Disney owns the rights to the 4:3 versions as well so a fix might not be too far off.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" alt="dasg" data-caption="dasg" data-credit="" data-credit-link-back="" data-dam-provider="" data-local-id="local-5-7493126-1573842498958" data-media-id="0c369e81-5382-4951-9b54-df0715fb4e0e" data-original-url="https://s.yimg.com/os/creatr-uploaded-images/2019-11/a7968730-07d5-11ea-a3f7-8811aaaa6acb" data-title="dasg" src="https://www.efrtechgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/1574009582_458_After-Math-Everythings-coming-up-Disney.jpeg"/></p>
<p>The Simpsons aren&#8217;t the only series getting a format change with the release of Disney+. All of the <em>Star Wars</em>, including the original three, are now available in 4K. You can&#8217;t get those anywhere else, online or off.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" alt="dasg" data-caption="dasg" data-credit="" data-credit-link-back="" data-dam-provider="" data-local-id="local-1-2055533-1573842498892" data-media-id="eae49213-0006-4066-8845-d511f5746969" data-original-url="https://s.yimg.com/os/creatr-uploaded-images/2019-11/a71919d0-07d5-11ea-9f97-8182b77248df" data-title="dasg" src="https://www.efrtechgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/1574009582_13_After-Math-Everythings-coming-up-Disney.jpeg"/></p>
<p>Speaking of <em>Star Wars</em>, Amazon is doing its best Palpatine impression over the DoD&#8217;s lucrative (albeit controversial) JEDI contract, which is designed to help streamline the military&#8217;s operations in the cloud. The DoD had awarded Microsoft the contract last month, shortly after Google had removed itself from the running, but now Amazon is claiming that the decision was somehow biased and is taking the government to court.</p>

<p>There are some Star Wars cookbooks from which you can take inspiration for your culinary concoctions with this cookware. It&#8217;s a touch disappointing there&#8217;s no Le Creuset Star Wars skillet, though. It&#8217;ll be a little more awkward to whip up <a href="https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Blue_milk_pancake">blue milk pancakes</a> in a French oven.</p>
