The gist this time around is that Zack faces some resistance after he closes too many underfunded high schools in California. He suggests sending kids who’ve been affected by the move to some of the more affluent schools in the state, including his alma mater, Bayside High. Hijinks, I assume, ensue. Zack, Kelly and Jessie all have kids at Bayside, where Slater is a PE teacher.

It’s too early to tell whether the Saved By The Bell reboot will be good, but it at least has a strong pedigree behind the scenes. Tracey Wigfield, the mastermind behind the terrific Great News, is the creator and executive producer of the series.

It’s been nine months since Apple acquired a feature-length documentary on Billie Eilish, and it has at last revealed when you’ll be able to watch the RJ Cutler-directed film. It will release Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry in theaters and on Apple TV+ in February. It didn’t confirm an exact premiere date, however.

Apple named Eilish its artist of the year at the first Apple Music Awards, which were held in December. The star won five Grammy Awards in January, including the ceremony’s biggest honors: Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

NBC’s Peacock streaming service will start streaming its entire back catalog of Saturday Night Live episodes on October 1st, according to Deadline and Variety. Once all 45 seasons of SNL make their way to Peacock, it will mark the first time the entire run of the sketch comedy show has been available to watch in one place.

Peacock currently has some of Saturday Night Live’s most famous episodes, particularly ones involving notable past guests like Chris Farley. You can also watch seasons one through five and seasons 30 through to 45 on Hulu, but that means you miss on the show’s 80s run with Eddie Murphy.  

YouTube already uses machine learning to flag inappropriate content for its Trust and Safety team to review, but moving forward, the company plans to expand the use of the technology. Starting later this year, YouTube will use machine learning to add age restrictions to inappropriate videos automatically.

As part of the same initiative, YouTube plans to make it more difficult for children to skirt those restrictions. If your child tries to watch a restricted video through an embed on another website, Google will redirect them to YouTube, where they’ll need to sign in to prove they’re over 18. “This will help ensure that, no matter where a video is discovered, it will only be viewable by the appropriate audience,” the company said.

If you own a Vizio TV, you may have felt left out watching sets from manufacturers like Samsung and LG get access to Apple TV. But now you too can use the software on your television. Starting today, the Apple TV app — through which you can access Apple TV+ — is available on Vizio SmartCast TVs in the US and Canada (via Variety). If you’re new to Apple TV+ and own a Vizio SmartCast TV with SmartCast Home from 2016 or later, you can get three free months when you sign up for the streaming service.  

Besides allowing you to watch originals like Greyhound and The Morning Show, you can also use the TV app to subscribe to premium networks like Showtime and Starz through Apple’s Channels feature. With the company’s family sharing system, up to six people in a household can share a single Apple TV channel subscription. The TV app also allows you to buy and rent movies and TV shows.  

For its latest big get, Netflix has snagged Sarah Cooper, the comedian who has perfected mocking President Donald Trump using his own words (via Variety). The company will start streaming Sarah Cooper: Everything’s Fine this fall. Netflix says the special will feature an array of guests taking part in short interviews and sketches led by Cooper. It will touch on topics like race, gender, class “and other light subjects.”

Helping Cooper bring the special to life is a talented crew that includes Natasha Lyonne (Orange is the New Black, Russian Doll) and Maya Rudolph (Big Hero 6, Vader Immortal). Lyonne will direct, with Rudolph serving as one of the executive producers on the special. 

Cinema buffs have something to look forward to from HBO Max. The streaming service is adapting popular Twitter account One Perfect Shot, which shares some of the most iconic compositions in film history, into a documentary series.

Each 30-minute episode will feature a single director dissecting one of their career-defining shot. They’ll talk about some of the things that went into the composition, with modern technology like 360-degree field of view cameras helping flesh out things. In addition to talking about the challenges they faced, they’ll also touch on lessons they learned along the way. Besides their work, they’ll talk about a shot that inspired them. As they go about talking about their craft, the directors will also touch on a single shot that inspired them. Ava DuVernay, the director of Selma and 13th, will narrate the episodes. She’s also producing the series. 

If you’re willing to sign up for Hulu for an entire year and don’t mind seeing some ads, you can save some cash with the annual plan the service just revealed. You can get 12 months of service for the cost of 10, but only on the ad-supported plan. It’ll cost $59.99, so you’ll save about $12 over the $5.99 month-to-month option.

There aren’t any other annual plans for now, so you won’t get discounts on the ad-free service or the live TV packages just yet. There are a couple of other bundles available if you want to subscribe to Disney+ and ESPN+ too, but they’re also month-to-month plans.

Quibi previously tried to attract new subscribers by uploading some of its original content — in both portrait and horizontal orientations — to YouTube. However, the new tier marks the most drastic attempt to date by Quibi to get new customers. 

Despite a splashy introduction at CES 2020 and the visibility of its two co-founders, it’s safe to say Quibi likely hasn’t had the start it imagined it would after securing $1.8 billion in investor funding. As The Verge points out, while the company earned a couple of  Emmy nominations recently, it hasn’t had a success like The Mandalorian. Pricing is another likely issue. At $8 per month, the company’s ad-free offering is more expensive than Disney+. Moreover, for the same price as its ad-supported tier, you can get access to Apple TV+, which at least has content like For All Mankind and The Morning Show.

The coronavirus pandemic may have also played a part. While the stay-at-home orders that followed the pandemic’s arrival were a boon to traditional streaming services like Netflix and Disney+, they probably didn’t help Quibi with its content designed for mobile consumption. It also hasn’t helped that Quibi only recently starting allowing people to stream content to TV screens. If the company has something going for it, it’s that it has a lot of cash to weather a slow launch and make moves like the one above.    

The company also announced today that it will be releasing its live action Mulan adaptation on Disney+ for $29.99 on September 4th. That’s surprising, as the company has never discussed premium offerings on top of its streaming service before.

“We’re looking at Mulan as a one off, as opposed to trying to say there’s a new business windowing model we’re looking at,” Disney CEO Bob Chapek said during an earnings call today. “That said, we find it very interesting to be able to take a new offering, our premiere access offering, to consumers at that $29.99 price and learn from it…” Specifically, he says the company will be looking at transaction figures, as well as subscriber uptick.
