Earlier this month, Google made it easier to find the information you’re searching for on individual web pages with the launch of highlighted featured snippets. Now, it’s building on that info-specific navigation with a new Chrome extension that lets you link directly to a piece of text on a page.

As The Verge reports, with the Link to Text Fragment extension installed you can simply highlight the text you want to link to, right click and choose “Copy Link to Selected Text.” This will generate a link that can be shared with anyone using a compatible browser, taking them to that specific text, regardless of the page’s formatting. It’s a useful feature that could have big applications in report and essay citations, or in your run-of-the-mill internet argument where you want to direct someone to specific information, rather than a whole article or pages.

Clearview is a startup that developed a facial recognition system that matches a photo of a person to publicly available images. Those can be from Facebook, YouTube or even Venmo. It’s powerful technology, and law enforcement is using it to solve crimes like shoplifting, murder and child sexual exploitation. The code in Clearview’s app references the ability to pair the software with AR glasses, giving the person wearing them the ability to identify whoever they see. And the company is monitoring who law enforcement is looking for, which makes an already massive privacy issue sound like something out of a dystopian novel.

The hiccup appears to be the result of a common carrier infrastructure glitch. T-Mobile told Engadget this was a “third party vendor issue that also affected other networks,” while US Cellular told 92 Moose that a flawed update to the “cross carrier messaging system” was to blame. Sprint, meanwhile, pinned the issue on a “maintenance update.” We’ve reached out to AT&T and Verizon (Engadget’s parent company) as well. Carriers haven’t gone into detail about what went wrong, though, so it’s not clear why the texts resurfaced or what prevented at least some of them from being delivered in the first place.

T-Mobile and Sprint both said the issue has been fixed, so you shouldn’t have to worry about more of these mystery texts. However, the issue was serious enough to have created some confusion. One user said she received a text from her now ex-boyfriend, while another got a message from a best friend that had passed away later in February. It’s a not-so-subtle reminder that even relatively innocuous glitches like this can have real-world consequences.

After confirming to Volvo customer care that you’re not hurt or in need of emergency assistance, you’ll get a text to your phone linking you to the service. The app will then guide you step-by-step through the necessary actions you need to take, such as taking photos of the damage, writing down notes about the accident and getting information about any other vehicles that were involved.

All that data is then wrapped up in a neat package and sent directly to your insurer, helping you get on your insurance claim straight away. The service also helps you locate Volvo-approved car repair centers, and can even help you arrange a tow to those facilities. Volvo says Car Accident Advisor will work with all of its vehicles after the “2015.5” model year, although if yours is older you can use the service by calling Volvo’s customer care line. It’s completely free.
