25 years after Westwood Studios’ first Command & Conquer game kicked off the hit real-time strategy series, gamers can roll back the clock with the Remastered Collection. Now available on both EA’s Origin store and Steam for $20, it includes both both Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert, as well as their expansion packs: Covert Ops, Counterstrike and The Aftermath.

The games are now playable in 4K with updates that touch the in-game graphics — you can switch back and forth between the old and new looks on the fly — as well as its music and cheesy FMV scenes that are now in HD with subtitles. For the launch, EA brought back an old friend from the Brotherhood of Nod.

Besides graphical enhancements, EA says fans can expect to find updated controls and a tweaked user interface. The bundle will feature full multiplayer support out of the box. There will be one-on-one quick matches, elo-based matchmaking, leaderboards and replays.

One of the studios that helped develop the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection was Petroglyph Games. It was founded by former Westwood Studios employees, including several people who worked on the original C&C. Original series composer Frank Klepacki was one of the people who returned to work on the remaster. So don’t worry, “Hell March” definitely got the care and attention it deserves. The development team also found a way to restore the franchise’s iconic full-motion video (FMV) cutscenes.

Besides the $20 digital edition, EA, with the help of Limited Run Games, plans to release two physical versions that come with a host of extras. They’ll cost $60 and $150 respectively. If you’re an Origin Access Premier subscriber, the game is included in your subscription.

ScummVM is a program that lets users launch certain games on platforms that they weren’t designed for. Fans used this as a way to get Blade Runner working on modern computers, but it wasn’t a simple procedure. They spent about eight years analyzing the game’s code and reassembling it into its current form. Earlier in the year, ScummVM added support for Blade Runner, but it required that players still have the game files in order to launch the game. This downloadable version from GOG.com runs on its own and doesn’t require any other files.

In Blade Runner, the player assumes the role of detective Ray McCoy, who is tasked with hunting down replicants at the same time as Rick Deckard, the movie’s protagonist. McCoy has to uncover clues, interrogate witnesses, search for suspects and ultimately “retire” the rogue androids. The game progresses in real-time (as opposed to waiting for the player to trigger certain events), which is pretty unique for a point-and-click adventure. It also borrows many of the characters, locations and music from the movie, so fans of the film will likely want to check it out. You can download it today from GOG.com for $8.99 — the price will go up to $9.99 after the launch period, though it’s not clear how long that is.
