There still aren’t too many Windows 10 PCs or laptops on the market with ARM-based processors, but folks who do have those machines will soon be able to run 64-bit x64 apps on them. Microsoft says it will at last roll out 64x emulation to Windows Insider testers in November.

Windows 10 has been able to emulate 32-bit x86 apps on ARM for a while, along with native 32-bit and 64-bit apps. Support for x64 emulation will allow those systems to run a far wider selection of software. As such, ARM-based Windows PCs and laptops will have far improved utility.

On top of Sync, Opera introduced a new feature called Flow that lets you share links, YouTube videos, photos and personal notes between your mobile and desktop browsers. You can do that simply by highlighting website links, text or images and selecting “send to flow” from the context menu. You can also share a current website by clicking on the arrow to the right of the address bar or going into the context menu. The new feature also allows you to paste and upload files up to 10MB in size.

Finally, Opera has introduced a “Suggested Sites” feature that identifies your most frequently visited website and displays them in the speed dial section. Those features should make the browser, which uses Google’s Chromium engine, a bit more useful. The updates are rolling out now, so you should see them soon.

The Windows 10 20H2 update will arrive next month with a few new features, like a visually refreshed Start menu, improved notifications, preinstalled Chromium Edge browser and the ability to Alt+Tab through Edge tabs. It’s also bringing more of the features from Control Panel into the modernized Settings page as Microsoft phases the older system tool out.

They’ve been in testing for Insiders over the last few months, but a post on the Windows Blog reveals that the update rolling out now represents what they expect will be the final build. Things should be fairly stable, but Windows Subsystem for Linux users will want to check the notes about a known issue.

Voice typing is introduced as a “new and improved” version of Windows dictation. The new version has been optimized for use with touch keyboards, has auto-punctuation and back end updates that should make voice typing faster and more responsive. You can also use voice commands to stop or pause voice typing and to delete or select certain words.

The voice typing feature has a button on the touch keyboard for easy access. The touch keyboard has been updated in other ways, including new key press animations and sounds, emoji and GIF search and small tweaks to key sizes and layouts.

An exact timeline for when those of us who aren’t beta testers will get these new features is unclear, but if you want to try them now you can simply sign up for the Windows Insider program. There are also a handful of developer-focused changes that you can read about at the Windows Blog.

As hinted earlier, though, you can’t just use this with any device. In addition to using the latest Your Phone software on your Windows 10 system, you’ll need a phone with the latest Link to Windows integration — and for now, that means a Samsung phone running Android 9.0 (Pie) or later. The computer and phone need to be on the same WiFi network, so this won’t be an option for checking the device you forgot at home.

Even so, this is a big step up from phone screen mirroring. You don’t have to handle everything a single window, or wade through your phone’s OS just to launch a favorite app. It’s not the seamless union of desktop and mobile that Microsoft envisioned with Continuum, but it’s considerably closer.

Adobe has updated its Fresco drawing app with a bunch more features. There’s a clipping masks tool that will allow you to capture certain parts of your drawing and move them to another layer or layer group. That way, you can continue to work on your piece without worrying about messing up the work you’ve already done.

There’s a new brush management tool as well. You’ll be able to pick which Pixel brushes to display or hide and make a custom set of brushes with the ones you use the most often. Fresco now has a preview tool for Photoshop, Pixel and Eraser brushes, which shows you the size and shape of the brush when you touch the screen. You can activate that though the Brushes menu, which is under the Input options in App Settings.

Following most of its rivals, Sony is helping you look better on Zoom calls with a software release that transforms its mirrorless, compact and DLSR cameras into webcams. The Imaging Edge Webcam app for Windows 10 works on models from the 2014 A7S up to the recent A7R IV and A6600 models. It also works on RX100 IV and later compact models, along with DSLRs back to the 2015 A68.

To make it work, you select your camera model, download the software and install it on your PC. Then, you adjust your camera’s settings (depending on the model) and connect it to your computer via a USB cable. From there, you can launch Zoom, WebEx or other videoconferencing app, and select your Sony camera from the webcam options.

It’s also possible to use the app to watch any movies and shows you bought through Amazon. Movies Anywhere subscribers can do the same as well. In some countries, the software also allows you to rent content, as well as subscribe to Prime Video Channels like HBO and Showtime. For the most part, those are all features you can access on Prime Videos web client, but they’re nice to have inside of an app.

While the app has a four-and-a-half star rating on 29 reviews, it’s not perfect. For one, you can’t pick where it stores any content you download. Playback is also limited to 1080p. Still, this seems like a good start for Amazon and brings it up to par with Netflix and Hulu. Head over to the Microsoft Store to download the Prime Video app.
